More robust measures to prevent child cruelty
The Daniel Pelka and Baby P cases highlight a broken system. A defenceless toddler should never be left to the devices of wicked or cruel parents or step-parents. Health agencies and community support agencies must be alert and responsive. How can a toddler be saved otherwise?
We need robust legislation that gives health professionals more resources and staff to carry out frequent home visits and to take action where there are substantial concerns.
