To stop the "parachuting in" of prospective MPs
That the prospective parliamentary candidate for each political party has lived in the constituency they wish to represent for a minimum of 15 years before they can stand for election - therefore preventing all political parties from "parachuting in favoured candidates", so that the MP elected would have knowledge of his/her constituency
