Citizen's Income to replace income benefits, tax allowances, and pensions

Additional Information

A Citizen’s Income (CI) is an unconditional, automatic and non-withdrawable payment to each individual as a right of citizenship.

A Citizen’s Income scheme would phase out as many reliefs and allowances against personal income tax and as many existing state financed cash benefits as possible, and replace them with a Citizen’s Income paid automatically to every man, woman and child. This would simplify the systems and save money by not having separate departments which on one side give money, and on the other take it away. It would reduce tax avoidance/evasion, and remove the "benefits trap".
