Council Chief Executives
We ask central government to introduce legislation to cap the annual salary of Chief Executives of local Council's.
We believe many salaries of Chief Executives and their Deputies of some local Councils are completely extortionate, not value for money and some even get more than the Prime Minister.
Local Council's for decades have refused to voluntarily cap salaries and it is time for government to legislate to ensure the salary of a Chief Executive of a local Council is a fair salary.
We advise that for a district Council the salary limit is capped at £75,000 PA and for a unitary or county council is capped at £125,000 PA.
In capping their salaries, all other executives wages will adjust and reflect the cap of the Chief Executives.
We do not accept that the quality of candidates will diminish. We endorse the concept of public service with a fair salary that provides value for money for local taxpayers.
