save cyclists - ban HGV's during peak hours
Responsible department: Department for Transport
After today's (15/07/2013) accident in Holborn - resulting in the death of a bike-commuter - and last week's death of a Barclay Bike cyclist, I propose that we ban HGV's from being on the roads, in Greater London, between 07:00-10:00 and 16:00-19:00. This will allow commuters to travel to and from their workplaces safely. Commuters cant chose their work hours, and therefore have no option but to use the roads during these busy times. This will also alleviate the distress of HGV drivers when they have to share the roads with commuter traffic - HGV's have very poor visibility of their surroundings, and have so many blind spots, they would probably welcome this!
Lets save lives and make London roads a safer place!

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The action requested is a specific one to London. In London, Transport for London is responsible for the roads and road safety, and the creator may wish to petition TfL or the London Mayor.
