Protect Sefton Park Meadows from development
Noting that the Mayor of Liverpool intends to sell Sefton Park Meadows subject to planning permission even though local planning policies contain presumptions against building on green space in a conservation area and ignoring the large number of objectors; we ask the Secretary of State to agree in principle to call-in any future application for this site and to appoint an inspector to hold a Public Inquiry on the matter.
We ask the Secretary of State to appreciate that the 6 acres of Sefton Park Meadows is an intrinsic component of the historically and nationally significant Sefton Park and its setting and that the amenity value of the Park would be diminished if the Meadows were built on.
We ask the Secretary of State to be ready to use his powers under article 25 of the Town and Country Planning (Development Management Procedure)(England) Order 2010 and under section 77 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.
