Ban confidential compensation payouts by public bodies
Confidential payouts compensating individuals are common in all areas of government and other public bodies, such as the police and NHS. In an open and transparent society, the administrating offices and organisations should be compelled to declare to whom these payments were made and how much and why they were made.
All too frequently the public reads of a confidential payout as compensation, where no justification is offered and the public are debarred from making a decision as to whether the amount was right and proper.
The public are the ultimate paymasters and the public have a right to told how much each claim costs.
