Petition Action

Unsolicited Commercial Mail must provide an Opt Out

Additional Information

Unsolicited Commercial Mail should be required to provide a Reply-Paid Envelope so that recipients can opt out from receiving further communications from the sender.

A) It saves businesses from repeatedly sending unwanted offers to people who do not want to receive them, thus saving printing and postal costs.

B) It saves local councils money because they do not have to collect and dispose of millions of unwanted letters in either landfill, or recycling.

C) It allows businesses to target people who specifically do not choose to opt out from their products.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
