Petition Action

Stop profiteering by mobile phone company's when a customer uses more than the contract min's. .

Additional Information

I propose that the government and ofcom establishes a basic 'duty of care' in the mobile phone industry in regards to customers.

The papers regularly carry news about parents and grand parents who receive huge phone bills because of irresponsible teenagers, faulty phones or people not understanding the fine print on phone contracts.

Options could be

- If a monthly phone bill is in excess of 100% of a customers contract, that the customer should be contacted and spoken to in person to see if they know about the excessive usage and the bill that will follow.

- The customer should be made to pay an amount covering their usage from the operators 'current available packages' not £1000's as happens at the moment

I'm sure the government could establish a viable frame work to protect individuals.
