Petition Action

Make COVID testing mandatory for students when moving into shared residences

Petition Details

To provide guidance for students moving into shared residences so new bubbles can be formed safely, through mandatory testing/isolation. Many young individuals are asymptomatic, therefore students could be unaware of having COVID. This poses a risk to vulnerable individuals.

Additional Information

University students often live in large halls of residence where spread of COVID could become uncontrollable. Currently, people from multiple households can move in together, posing a high risk of outbreaks.

Specific guidance on how to create new bubbles and maintain safety in shared spaces is needed to ensure further outbreaks don’t occur, and to protect those who need shielding. Without this, not only is the health of students jeopardised, but studies could be further disrupted.
