Petition Action

Stop the KS2 SATs tests

Additional Information

I move that SATs tests for 11 year olds are abolished and teacher led assessment is used instead.

The tests in year 6 at the end of primary school are done for the benefit of the government league tables and have no benefit for the children.

They cause a lot of stress for the children concerned and are a snapshot of the child's ability on a given day. Teacher assessments would be far more accurate and relevant, as well as giving children and schools far more flexibility in what and how to learn in the final year of primary school.

Submitted on behalf of children across the country.
