Make a U-turn on the English COVID19 A-Level grading system.
Allow schools in England to use the Centre Assessed Grades (CAG), which takes a far more holistic view of a students academic record, to decide their A-Level grades during the COVID19 pandemic.
On the 13th of August 2020, A-Level students received their grades. Those who came from schools in low socioeconomic areas received grades which were significantly lower than the grades submitted by their schools. The current algorithm puts students in smaller classrooms, typically private schools, at an advantage.
The appeals process current puts students from the same institute in direct competition with each other. The system should not take opportunities from one student for another.
