Reinstate teacher recommended A level & GCSE grades.
Replace the A- level and GCSE results produced by Ofqual’s statistical mechanism and reinstate the grades recommended by teachers.
This year, almost 40% of A-level grades predicted by teachers have been downgraded by OFQUAL.
Those from disadvantaged or poor socio-ecomonic backrounds have been hit the worst by a biased algorithm which inadvertently favours the privileged.
A further 2 million teacher-recommended GCSE grades are expected to be downgraded. Several young people's futures will be severly impacted by this unfairness.
We call upon the Minister of Education to reinstate the grades recommended by teachers.
