Petition Action

Impose mandatory sentencing for assaulting emergency services workers

Petition Details

We are calling on mandatory minimum sentencing with no loopholes, mental health or otherwise. Increased maximum sentencing and truth in sentencing UK wide for the offence of assaulting a public officer.

Additional Information

Recently, incidents of assaults on emergency service personnel (paramedics, police officers, firefighters, volunteer rescue officers, correctional officers, and staff at A&E departments all over the country have sadly been very much on the increase.
These officers are here to help you.
Faith is lost in a judicial system that slaps offenders on the wrist and sends them home with a recommendation not to do it again. We need awareness that this will no longer be tolerated in any way. These are serious offences on people who's job is to save lives and protect the public so we can all go home safely at the end of the day and stay safe once there, and as such must carry serious punishment.
