Support local cafes/restaurants who wish to place table/chairs outside safely
Ease the pavement license regulations. It currently stands that for a pavement license to be granted, the pavement needs to be the table width plus a further 2 metres. If a wheelchair/double buggy can safely pass, cafes/ restaurants should be allowed to encourage eating outside as it is safer.
Small businesses have suffered immeasurable damage, due to being forcibly closed during Covid-19. We need to back our High Street & support local businesses more than ever. The Government have obviously seen the importance, which is evident in their ‘Eat Out To Dine Out’ initiative, but should also encourage the use of table space outside, as eating outside and reducing the number of people inside is important. If wheelchairs/ double buggies can pass safely then tables should be allowed outside

In July 2020, the Government announced a streamlined pavement licence process:

Applications should be made to the relevant local authority. If you have concerns about the application of these guidelines you should contact the local authority in the first instance.
If you'd like something different, you could start a new petition.
