Nationalise water companies

Petition Details

Nationalise water companies and invest in improving the antiquated infrastructure, particularly the sewage system. Protect our waterways and reservoirs and lakes and ensure that they are in good ecological condition and safe for people to use and enjoy.

Additional Information

Water companies are placing profit before protecting the environment. Last year 1.5m hours of raw sewage were pumped into English rivers. Action is not being taken to prevent our waterways being polluted. Part of the problem is a sewage system which does not seem to be fit for purpose. If water was back in public ownership it would be easier to ensure that rivers were not being polluted and would also help to mitigate against flooding.
