Petition Action

Introduce a deposit scheme for glass, plastic and cans

Petition Details

Introduce a mandatory 25p deposit on all glass bottles, plastic bottles and aluminium cans sold in the UK.

Additional Information

Litter is a perennial problem in the UK and ourrent recycling levels are far too low. There used to be a deposit scheme on glass bottles in the 1970s and Germany has a similar scheme to the one proposed.

This scheme would have the double benefit of massively reducing littering and incentivise people to recycle.
