Implement the (Licensing of Activities involving Animals) Regulations 2018'
Implement the (Licensing of Activities involving Animals) Regulations 2018' to include independent kennel inspections for all former raced greyhounds retained by greyhound trainers at their premises. Greyhounds are used commercially and once they are no longer of use, protection is insufficient.
Approximately 15,000 greyhounds are used for commercial racing, with thousands becoming surplus every year, i.e, too slow, too old, injured, etc, remaining unprotected. The largest rescue, the Greyhound Trust, have up to a one year waiting list. Greyhounds retained by greyhound trainers have found to be kept in barbaric conditions, no light, no bedding, lying in their own urine, no access to water, suffering with untreated injuries. No routine kennel inspections are required by any authority.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We understand that you are concerned about the conditions in which former raced greyhounds are kept, but it's not clear what you want the Government to do about this.
The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018 do not regulate the keeping of greyhounds by greyhound trainers.
The Animal Welfare Act makes it an offence for a person to be cruel to an animal, or not provide for its welfare needs. Investigating possible offences would be a matter for the police, not the Government or House of Commons.
You could start a petition calling on the Government to regulate greyhound trainers by creating licensing requirements and new standards for the keeping of greyhounds, if that is what you want to happen.
