Change planning guidance to increase parking space sizes
Parking space sizes are based on 1970 vehicle dimensions which are much smaller than many new cars. We need the government to change the guidelines local council planning use for parking design and layout which are suitable for modern vehicles.
It causes issues for finding a space you can actually fit in, which causes congestion in parking areas even when their is parking available. It causes issues for the less able (but not disability registered) being able to get out of the vehicle through a tiny gap which is available. There is also the issue of damages to vehicles which are caused because of people opening doors on to other vehicles to exit their own due to the space issue.
Spaces need to be enlarged to current vehicle sizing.
