Petition Action

Introduce 1p tax on garments to tackle unethical fast fashion practice.

Petition Details

These companies must take responsibility for the waste they produce.

We must force the fashion industry to act immediately in order to reach the UK's goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.

Introduce the EAC’s (Environmental Audit Committee) proposal of a 1p tax on garments.

Additional Information

The UK produces 1 million tonnes of textile waste each year. These companies must provide the government with their plan on what they are doing to reduce their waste.

The fashion industry is responsible for 10% of the worlds carbon emissions. Push companies to use materials that don’t require a carbon intensive process to produce.

Consider the EAC’s proposal of a 1p tax on all garments in order to produce the funds for better clothing collection and sorting (recycling).
