Petition Action

Devolve full justice powers to the Welsh Government

Petition Details

Wales needs to be on par with Scotland/N.Ireland & have full control of its justice system, with powers to run policing, prisons & appoint its own judges.
People in Wales are being let down by the system in its current form as found in a recent commission which listed the benefits of the change.

Additional Information

The Commission on Justice report was published in 2019 and lists the benefits of this change.
It is currently being "considered" by the UK government:

BBC article reporting this issue:

(it can't be duplicating work if Scotland & N.Ireland have their own judicial system too)
