Petition Action

Take immediate and effective action to resolve the crisis with driving tests.

Petition Details

The system booking driving tests is an utter disgrace. A queuing system which runs into the tens of thousands for no tests to be available when access is achieved. A website that crashes demoting queuers to the back of the queue and drivers with postponed tests from March still not with a test date.

Additional Information

Customers of the DVSA, a Government monopoly, have been ignored and neglected and the 5 month hiatus when no tests were available has not been used to produce a useable, coherent solution to the inevitable problems that were always going to happen. A woefully incapable system has now been provided for the thousands of customers who want tests. This is pathetic and we want something proper done quickly. Furthermore, theory test expiry dates need to be extended because of this situation.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You may wish to sign one of these petitions about the driving test backlog:

Direct the DVSA to seek help from the MoD to clear the backlog of driving tests:
petition.parliament.uk/petitions/549622

Privatise the DVSA:
petition.parliament.uk/petitions/549632

Allow certain learner drivers to drive unsupervised for a limited period:
petition.parliament.uk/petitions/308523

Extend theory expiry dates due to COVID-19 (Coronavirus)
petition.parliament.uk/petitions/307479

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
