Give rights to close relatives to visit care homes even in a crisis
Many people in care homes have one person who is their anchor and advocate - the person may be a close relative, a friend or a carer.
A nominated individual . should be granted rights to continue to visit the person regardless of outside circumstances as long as the proper precautions are taken. It is the right of every human being to be able to remain in contact with the person who cares most for them and to remove this right is unacceptable. It is detrimental to the vulnerable person to take away this right by refusing access.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The Government has already published guidance for care homes on developing policies for visiting arrangements during the Covid-19 outbreak: www.gov.uk/government/publications/visiting-care-homes-during-coronavirus/update-on-policies-for-visiting-arrangements-in-care-homes
Determining policies for individual care homes will be a matter for the operator of that care home, not the Government or House of Commons.
