UK Government to constitutional advise Queen Elizabeth II to remove royal titles

Petition Details

I am writing this petition to request that the UK Government call Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II to request via the use of constitutional advice, that The Duke and Duchess of Sussex be stripped of their Duke and Duchess titles.

Additional Information

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex since stepping back from royal duties, have continued to use their royal titles whilst becoming politically involved. Furthermore, the Sussexes no longer work for the Royal Family nor follow any of the protocols required to hold such title. As such, the titles provided with honour from the British people, should be removed.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept petitions about honours and appointments, but in any case the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for royal titles, which are the personal responsibility of Her Majesty the Queen.
