Petition Action

To stop charity Hospital Radio broadcasting hardwire licence fees.

Petition Details

If possible, I would like all Hospital Radio Stations not to be charged a “hardwire licence fee”.

Additional Information

Hospital radio stations are charity run and have no regular incomes. For us, we broadcast from a room within the hospital(like the majority of my fellow stations do)and go out to the wards on the floor above. It’s not fair that small charities like ourselves have to pay to broadcast to poorly people within the same building. Hospital radio stations are having to fold because they cannot afford to continue broadcasting.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Hospital Radio Licences are commercial products sold by the PPL to radio stations that play recorded music, so charges are a matter for the PPL, not the Government or House of Commons.

You could start a petition calling on the Government to provide funding to support hospital radio stations, to enable them to cover costs such as this licence, if that is something you want to happen.
