Remove requirement for EWS1 certificate for buildings without cladding
Allow existing building specifications to be used to determine which buildings actually require an EWS1 certificate. Currently legislation is opaque and mortgage lenders have a blanket approach to flats in purpose built blocks, requiring an EWS1 for any flat/apartment in order to grant a mortgage
It is crippling the housing market. No mortgage can be obtained for any home in a block of flats, preventing millions from moving home or obtaining a remortgage. Any sale with a flat in a chain is breaking down costing the economy millions and leaving these home owners stranded
