Give rights to those closest to resident to visit in care homes.
The Government must review the current guidelines for care homes regarding visitors. Every human being to be able to remain in contact with the person who cares most for them and to remove this right is unacceptable. No visitors removes the monitoring and oversight that is vital to their wellbeing
The Government must reexamine and reissue their guidance, paying proper attention to the fundamental right to quality of life for each and every individual. Family carers should be given the same rights as paid carers and key workers to access the person in a care home, and follow the same safety rules on entering and leaving the premises.
