Exclude children under 12 from the rule of six
Follow Wales and Scotland’s lead and exclude children under 12 from the rule of six.
Public Health England studies suggest that younger children play a limited role in the transmission of COVID-19 and this research provided evidence for the safety of reopening primary schools with the knowledge that young children would be unlikely to maintain social distancing. Larger families with multiple young children will now be separated from family and friends. Not counting young children in the rule of six would allow families with 3 or more young children to spend time with grandparents.
