Don't include children under 12 in the Rule of Six for gatherings in England

Petition Details

The Rule of Six for gatherings in England will, for example, make it a criminal offence for a family with 3 children and two parents to meet with two grandparents at once. Parliament must scrutinise whether this severe interference with family life is justified. Children under 12 could be exempted.

Additional Information

This new rule disproportionately affects families with children compared to smaller households, whose freedom to meet with others indoors will actually increase. It feels unfair. It is extremely impractical. It is inconsistent with the fact that young children apparently pose a lower risk of spreading the virus. It does not make sense, when at school young children are mixing without masks or distancing and in large bubbles.
