Maintain our food standards post-Brexit
Maintain food standards to protect the public’s health animals and the environment.
The Government has repeatedly promised it will not compromise on our food standards in new trade deals that it agrees, such that produce including chlorinated chicken and hormone-fed beef would still be restricted. A statutory instrument agreed last year revokes legal reference to the list of restricted/banned medicines for use on farm animals-why? A trade deal that compromises our food standards and/or the environment, even with higher tariffs for sub-standard produce, should not be agreed.
