Petition Action

Allow informal childcare during local and national lockdowns in England

Petition Details

The government must allow informal childcare during lockdown. Many households have two working parents who ask close family to look after their children enabling parents to work and provide for their children. Current restrictions forces parents to choose between breaking the law or quitting work.

Additional Information

In Scotland and Wales, informal childcare is allowed with restrictions in place which require that adults do not enter each other’s homes. England should be brought in line with the rest of the UK to enable parents to go out to work to provide for their children. Parents should not be forced to choose between breaking the law and feeding and housing their children.
