Allow family members to provide essential childcare during corona restrictions
Family support from grandparents and close relatives is the only way many people can afford to go out work, this is an “unseen pillar upon which our economy rests" stated North East England Chamber of Commerce policy director Jonathan Walker.
Refusal to allow this close family support is not only putting a financial burden onto already struggling families, it encourages further spread of the virus through children mixing in larger groups at after school clubs and childminders outside of their classroom “bubble”, but it also forces families to choose between financial stability and breaching restrictions at a time when pubs are open and grouse shooting is still acceptable.
