Legalise private ownership and use of E-scooters on UK roads.
Legalise the use of privately owned E-Scooters on UK roads (except motorways) and introduce standards for the use of E-Scooters, requiring their safe and responsible use, including insurance and being well maintained.
There are hundreds of thousands of responsible men and women commuting to work on E-Scooters, and similar numbers using them for recreation who are turned into criminals by the current laws.
Creating safety standards and safeguards around their use would stop the loutish and irresponsible behaviour of some E-Scooter users who give the responsible and safe majority of users a bad name.
Many E-Scooter owners want to insure their scooters, when legalised insurance companies will offer it to them.
