Lift existing partial lockdowns and rule out a second national lockdown
The Government should end partial lockdowns in areas of the country such as Bolton and Newcastle, as well as ruling out a second national lockdown. Efforts should instead be focused on disseminating relevant material about the virus, and support systems to protect the vulnerable.
There is no guarantee that people would abide by such restrictions. Small businesses are being squeezed by a gradual erosion of their ability to function and are close to running at a loss. The economic damage would be catastrophic.
