Petition Action

Establish an independent inquiry into potential corruption in English football

Petition Details

I am requesting the government to establish an independent enquiry into the potential corruption and collusion between some of its bigger members and acting in an anti competitive manner.

Additional Information

I would like a full transparent enquiry into the owners and directors test also I feel its only correct to establish if any laws have been broken including but not limited to, anti competition law. As fans and members of our clubs we feel having a fully transparent and fair organisation and directors of such is much needed in our beloved game.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Any investigation into alleged corruption by one or more particular football club(s) would be a matter for the police and the relevant organising body such as the Football Association or English Football League, not the UK Government or Parliament.

You may wish to sign this petition which calls for a review of the need for a statutory Directors and owners test for football clubs: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/331589.
