Extend furlough period for event industry workers

Petition Details

The event industry has been delivered another huge blow with recent announcements that they will be unable to resume their events for at least 6 months. We ask the government to extend the furlough scheme for the companies/workers in the events industry who are greatly affected.

Additional Information

Our UK events industry was worth £42.3 million in 2019. The industry is home to millions of workers and we can’t risk the catastrophic impact the coronavirus will have on these people’s livelihood.
They just need extra support to get them through the wedding/conference season in summer 2021.It will be more costly to the country if these companies close and will also create massive losses for the supply chains. Let’s try and provide this industry a more security and time to recover.
