poor notification of motorway closures and diversions

Additional Information

The number of times people are forced to make divesions due to motorway closures late at night where signs are not in place early enough to prevent lengthy detours, or signs incorrectly displaying roads closed when they are not is becomming more and more common. Given the high price of fuel these days shouldn't we have the right to make a claim for compensation against contractors/authorities who fail to display correct signage?
