Don't ask the Queen to sign the law-breaking Internal Market Bill

Petition Details

The Government itself has announced in Parliament that the UK Internal Market Bill breaks International law.

If MPs pass this Bill, they will be asking the Queen to break the law when she signs a bill that enables Ministers to break the law. Her Majesty must not be discredited in this way.

Additional Information

The Internal Market Bill says it has the power to override any “relevant international or domestic law”, including “any other legislation, convention or rule of international or domestic law whatsoever.”

The Bill’s clauses 42,43 and 45:

1. breach international law and authorise future breaches.
2. allow regulations which are incompatible with domestic law.

This Bill would mark an appalling milestone in UK history. The Rule of Law will no longer the guiding principle of the UK Government.
