Petition Action

Make "Owain Glyndŵr Day" on September 16th a public holiday in Wales

Petition Details

On September 16th 1400, Owain Glyndŵr was proclaimed as Prince of Wales by his followers. The day is celebrated as an unofficial holiday by many in Wales as "Owain Glyndŵr Day". We are petitioning the government to make the day a public holiday in Wales.

Additional Information

Owain Glyndŵr is a national hero in Wales and was the last Welshman to be proclaimed "Prince of Wales". On September 16th, the anniversary of this proclamation, his legacy of vision and leadership, which gave a voice to the people of Wales, is celebrated. The story of Glyndŵr has had a significant influence in shaping the Wales of today, and therefore it should to be recognised.
