Provide a Universal Basic Income to cover a person’s most basic financial needs.
Recent technological advancements have helped generate unheard of levels of profit. It has seen the top 1% absorb tens of trillions from the bottom 90% and to an extreme and unjust wealth divide. The average person has not shared in the bounty that being lucky enough to live in these times provides.
VAT should be tailored to redirect some of the tech-generated profit back into the wider population so that everyone can be a shareholder in their country’s success.
A UBI would act as a pre-emptive measure against the coming job losses caused by AI and Automation.
Extra income, especially in the hands of those that need it most, would boost local businesses and circulate back into the wider economy.
The nation's stress and anxiety would be replaced by happiness, creativity and productivity.
