Petition Action

Take action to address the rising levels of child poverty

Petition Details

To tackle child poverty the Government should:

- Increase Child Benefit by at least £10
- Add £10 to the UC child element and child tax credit
- Fund free school meals for all families in receipt of UC or tax credits and eventually all children
- Abolish the benefit cap and two child limit

Additional Information

Increasing children’s benefits gets money to families quickly via existing government infrastructure. £10 added to the UC child element and child tax credit provides an extra financial boost to those families on the lowest incomes. Free School Meals improves nutritional health and ensures children from low income families are better able to concentrate and thrive. Families affected by the benefit cap and 2 child limit are being driven into poverty with very little way of remedying their situation.
