Reduce student debt due to Covid-19 disruption at universities

Petition Details

University students are receiving reduced face to face teaching and a lack of sufficient education on campus. Students should not be expected to pay back the full debt of their university fees for an education that is being impaired .

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We understand that you want student debt to be reduced, but it's not clear by how much of for which students.

We have published the following petition, which you might like to sign:

Cancel all student debt for all students: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/315472

If you would like the Government to reduce student debt for students whose courses have been affected by Covid-19, we could accept a petition requesting this, but it would need to be clear which students you wanted to have the Government reduce debt for, and ideally by how much.
