Petition Action

To get rid of the name Cleveland

Petition Details

To ask for the name Cleveland to be removed from all emergency services & Royal Mail's database.

Cleveland was abolished in 1996, but yet we still have the name on the emergency services, that is the Police & Fire Brigade, it is hi time that the name was removed & put in the past where it belongs

Additional Information

The emergency services should be renamed to North Yorkshire Police & North Yorkshire Fire Brigade or where they are in Durham to renamed to Durham Police & Durham Fire Brigade respectively.

Plus to get Royal Mail to remove the name Cleveland from there database, the database is out of date and needs updating with the correct information.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Naming local emergency services is a matter for the relevant local authority, and changing the Royal Mail's database would be a matter for the Royal Mail, not the Government or House of Commons.
