Give local government power to decide wedding guest limits as per venue capacity
Local Government given powers to establish COVID-19 secure venues, capacity based on size and bring wedding venues in line with pubs, bars and Restaurant’s. This has happened in Northern Ireland. The cap on numbers is unscientific and Local Government is better placed to make these decisions.
Northern Ireland have been running weddings based on socially distanced capacities, in line with hospitality settings, guidelines, taking into account special measures to keep everyone safe. The cap on numbers in place for weddings under the present guidelines is both unscientific and unjustified. Otherwise weddings will continue to be driven underground into unsecure, unlicensed premises and private homes, where guidelines will not be adhered to and where outbreaks will as a result occur.
