Introduce specific Cyber Security requirements for businesses that hold our data
Create new legislation, relating to GDPR but specific to Cyber Security, for all UK businesses that hold Personally Identifiable Information (PII) about customers, requiring them to carry out regular security audits of their information systems to ensure GDPR compliance.
Every time we sign up to a new service, stay in a hotel or make an online purchase, we enter our details such as name and address etc. This is then stored in databases that could be subject to a breach, resulting in your data being stolen.
We're protected by GDPR, but by the time a breach has occurred, it's too late.
Businesses should be required to take specific steps to prevent this.
This could be achieved by requiring quarterly cyber security audits, performed by an accredited company.
