Require local authorities to make deceased animals available for inspection
At the moment there isn’t anything stopping local councils from simply disposing of deceased unchipped animals that they collect. I would like to see a law where local organisations can visit council depots once a week to check deceased unchipped animals.
This way local organisations could use their databases to match and reunite deceased animals with their owners so not only closure can be brought, but a proper cremation/burial. Many owners never have closure. Their beloved pets are simply disposed of. This has to change. Unfortunately not all animals are chipped and so are tossed away like rubbish. Please change the law.
