Allow one extra person in the delivery room during birth despite covid-19
The Government should allow one extra person in the delivery room during birth such as a significant other. Due to current restrictions, only the mother herself is allowed in the delivery room.
Significant others are currently not allowed to be present during birth in the delivery room despite current covid restrictions which prohibit a parent from witnessing their child's birth. The women currently has to go through the difficult process with no support from their significant other.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Decisions about who can attend scans and births are a matter for the NHS, not the UK Government or House of Commons.
On 5 June, the NHS’s suspension of hospital visiting was lifted. This means that visiting is now subject to local discretion by trusts and other NHS bodies. You should check with your maternity team and sonography unit for their policy on visitors attending births.
