Delay MP pay rise so key workers like nurses & hospital cleaners get a pay rise
In the last 20 years MP salaries have increased from £48,371 (April 2000) to £81,932 (April 2020), a real terms pay cut of 3 %.
Entry level nurses salaries have increased from £14,890 in 2000 to £24,907, a real terms pay cut of 4 %.
(Comparisons are based on 2000 salaries in real terms)
UK key workers have faced increases living costs, decreased living and working standards to help support vital services.
During this time MP's took large allowances to help set up offices at home while key workers weren't even supplied adequate PPI to meet the government's own recommendations.
Raise all key workers wages in public services to *at least* 97 % of their 2000 real term equivalent wages before giving MP's another pay rise. Make those on the front line the priority.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for setting MPs' pay. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.
