Increase the SEISS amount for the self employed in the music & arts sector
We want the government to increase the current SEISS from its current 20% to at least 50% for the 1million plus self employed workers in the arts & music sector.
Currently the 20% contribution is to cover the drop in demand for self employed businesses over the next 6 months.
We know that in the building industry for example the self employed workers have been busy all year and are receiving the same (%) as workers in art and music who have not been able to work all year and won’t be able to until next April.
20% of net monthly income is not sufficient for workers who have had another 6 months work eradicated.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Since you started your petition the Government has extended the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme grant so that it covers a 3 month period from 1 November 2020 until 31 January 2021, for which the Government will provide a taxable grant calculated at 80% of 3 months average monthly trading profits, paid out in a single installment and capped at £7,500 in total: www.gov.uk/government/publications/self-employment-income-support-scheme-grant-extension/self-employment-income-support-scheme-grant-extension
