Lower the age you can access private pensions to 53
Lower the current age you can access private pensions from 55 to age 53 for workers who are in a position to consider earlier retirement or may want to go part time. In the current climate, this would give workers an additional option particularly if there job/industry is currently at severe risk.
This could help a lot of people who have a good pension pot and want to retire earlier than 55 but cannot and are currently concerned about there jobs which may be at severe risk. This could reduce the number of people being made redundant in the future and more importantly, it may save the government a lot of money if these people do not have to claim benefits. It will also give the people to option to claim their private pension and go part time, which again help employers and thus the economy.
